The less than 200 remaining B-52 G with jet engines & less than 100 B-52 H models with more fuel efficient turbo fans were last built in the late 60's. The planes have had improved wings installed & electronic counter measures upgraded over the years. Thier main task is to carry heavy loads long distances in low to moderate risk environments. Then they either carpet bomb or launch cruise missiles to penetrate into non survivable areas. Most crews are now younger than thier planes. The 1st B-52A flw in 1952. The A through F models have been retired & most cut up for scrap & spare parts.
