Dave, The final decision will be yours to make and yours alone. But, let me tell you this. Make an informed one. You are about to spend alot of money, and in my personal opinion, you need to be patient. Look at each brand, JD, NH, MF, IH/Case, and compare apples to apples. If you ask this question to 10 different people, you will get 10 different answers. If one favors JD, which do you think he will recommend? Remember this, all of the above mentioned brands are of high quality, but it's what you like in one particular brand that will sway you in that direction. Why did I not mention what I use? Because what I have is perfect for me, not for you. Be patient, study, and compare. You will do just fine.
