Don't be surprised if the insurance companies are a bit gunshy about insuring antique farm equipment for public demonstrations. Word is that at least 2 engine clubs in Ohio have had their liability insurance cancelled since the accident at Medina. I've also heard that all the injured have hired attorneys (who will look for the deepest pockets, not necessarily the greatest blame) Many other clubs are afraid that their rates will get hiked sky high as a result. Personally, I was looking into insurance for our traction engine shortly before the accident (much more worried about some idiot on a small tractor, butt buggy, or bicycle zooming into a blind spot and getting crunched, or a tourist putting his hand on the boiler and getting burnt, than a serious boiler accident). I even had one agent who was getting me a quote (with a company that insures rail models and trolleys) call the day after and say "forget it". Izzit fair? Probably not, but that's the way it is.
