Well the Bi-Rotor combine is/was an innovative design. It is not the Holy Hrail that the inventors sold it as. The outside rotating grate system has limits in wear and crop handling. I actually talked to Mark Underwood at some JD Harvester focus meetings, smart fellow.
As for what happened to it. JD bought 17 of the patents and incorporated them into their combine line. Mark Underwood ,co inventor, actually worked for JD for a good number of years after they bought the patents.
The original converted IH prototype and the Bi-Rotor machine sold this Oct. 2018. Mark died in 2017. An Indiana company PeriDot Inc. bought it. They are talking about trying to refine the designs with modern computer designing and such. Then maybe going to market. I personally think it will never be manufactured in a large scale.
