when i was looking to buy a tractor, i inquired at the john deere dealer about the JD 1070 model and they told me that it was never their most popular model because of price. they were only about $900 cheaper than a 40 hp utility model and most people did not want a compact when they could get a bigger one for close to the same price. i have also never seen a new 1070 on any JD dealer lots and very few for sale anywhere. i eventually bought a JD 870 and it has been a real workhorse for me, but i wish now i would have gotten something with more horsepower.
