Allan, How much NH3 did you put down when you put that wheat crop in? I have to agree with Steven@AZ on this one. Haveing seen thin crops make it to harvest, but fertlizer (NH3) just enables wheat to better use short water situations, and when moisture is in abundance then the wheat crop is even better. I would think that 70 lbs of N / acre would have been a good starting point. On High Plains summer fallow wheat ground. I know fertlizer is not new, or novel, But a lot of people in thhe High Plains tend to view Fertlizer as something for a primary crop not something to put on Blow Hills, dry corners, and the like.
