Then I would upgrade the tires first. You may be able to get by without chains some or most of the time, which is the happier way to go. :) The tires will help you all year long, so are the better investment. (Unless you only mow lawn in summer, then new tires will tear up a bit more).

The chains are helpful, but you have a set, so why buy another? You can shop for these, often $10 or so at a farm auction, etc.

That would be my take on it.
