You should go down to the case forum, they have lots if knowledge down there. I'm not real up on those engines, but in general grinding valves on a diesel engine is not a good idea because it lowers compression making them harder to start. I know the larger cases are especially sensitive to that and you need to just replace the valves and seats. But I would certainly ask on the case board below.
