I heard on the radio this morning that some station owner in central Washington (state) raised his price to $4.99 very briefly- he apparently had some fairly pointed responses from folks who resented the gouging, and he lowered back to "normal" (about a buck and a half around here). He came on the radio this morning and apologized, and offered to rebate the difference if purchasers bring in their receipt. I haven't seen any gouging in my local area, but I think the appropriate response would be to park in front of a pump and refuse to move, and try to convince others to do the same. The only tow truck operator in town is a friend of mine, who would probably bring his fleet down and block the rest of the pumps himself. If we don't stand for it, they won't do it!
