I use the same product on aluminum rims. People don't realize aluminum oxidizes and becomes powdery white on the bead. I clean aluminum and all rims with a wire wheel , then apply the black goop and air up. I have never had a failure with that product. I buy it at NAPA or CARQUEST , I am sure all auto parts stores carry it. I had an old trailer rim that was badly rusted , even after wire wheeling it, it was badly pitted so I coated the rim , let it dry and did what you do..worked !
