Who would have guessed 50 years ago that consumers today would be demanding "organic" or "local" food. I sure didn't see it coming. I don't think any of us did,but somebody,somewhere along the line convinced enough people to demand it,to make it commercially viable.
I doubt any of us here have the foresight to know what consumers will want 50 years from now where technology is concerned,but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that not many people in future generations will long to live like it was the 1950s. Whatever they want,if it's possible and somebody convinces them to want it,they'll want it,and they'll have it.
