I found out recently that the department I was with in Texas split about 2 or 3 years after I left. The new department was headed up by the best chief I've known, but apparently there were still problems. A few years later, the entire department was gobbled up by another department, and then a few years more into an even larger department.
I know when I was in, it was a fulfilling experience and lots of folks were there to do what they could.. Then they started pushing medical, and some folks (like me) may not have any interest in medical. Add to that the new restrictions for members with CDL....well, I see even more hardships in the future of VFD's.
