I want to upgrade the closing wheel arms on my John Deere 7000 bean planter. Things are loose from being worn and I want the lever adjustment so I can be a little more responsive to soil conditions. I have been offered the cast closing wheel arms off of a John Deere 1770 with maximerge XP planting units. They are different, but I didn't know if they could be made to work with some modification. Probably Shoup's upgrade closing wheel arm is the way to go, but I thought someone might know if they could be made to work. The differences I see are how the arm is stopped from dropping down when the planter is raised, the bushings are larger on the XP (don't think that is a problem), and maybe the width where it sets over the closing wheel arm stop casting. Thanks for your thoughts.
