Not to step on any toes but yes sort of. No lead acid responds well to deep cycling of being left in a state of partial discharge. The lead sulphates and/or flakes off. this reduces capacity, ability to charge or shorts plates together. Over charging & high temps will ruin a battery rapidly as well. Even if a battery is a week old, once it's abused it never recoveres all it's capacity. A deep cycle battery or marine battery has thicker plates,spaced farther apart & are alloyed with calcium/other trace elements. Less prone to warp,flake or sulphate. CCA capacity per lb of battery is less however. Some stationary industrial equipment uses banks of similar looking ni-cad cells that are unaffected by continous partial charges & resistant to deep cycling
