I was mowing 4 acres in 3.5 hours with a 42"cut riding mower and it was slow! When the grass is really growing in the spring it was all I could do to keep up. I looked at all options like you are and realized for me a ZTR (sero turn radius) mower was the way to go. I purchased a used Dixie Chopper with a 60" deck, mows at 10mph. Now it takes me about 45 minutes, if I'm not playing around. That Dixie is part billy goat, part bush hog! I haven't seen any grass it can't mow, and holds a hill real well. It was difficult finding a used one since all of the commercial cutters use them daily. Mine has over 2000 hours, no problems. Check out www.lawnsite.com for added info. Good luck in your search.
