I'm not sure which type of battery to select, I've always used just a plain old 'battery', but here's the simplest method to ensure strong cranking power, and that is to bring the battery into the house when its cold outside. Chances are you aren't using it every day anyways, just when it snows. For the few minutes both ways to remove it and hook it up, it'll give you all the cranking power you can ask for. If it's used occasionally, you won't even have to charge it, just keep it in a reasonably warm place.
