Use left handed drill bits all the way. They are not expensive if you buy them at Northerntools.com. A whole set is $30 or so.

The reason for using left handed bits, starting small and progressing larger, is that often the drill alone will remove the broken bolt. It is twisting it out rather than in as a normal drill bit would do.

Be VERY carefull with the ez-outs. If you break one off in the hole, you will be in much worse shape than you are now. That steel is hard and brittle.
