We have a 1949 JD B which belonged to a left arm amputee (corn picker). He had mounted a platform on the left rear axle so that he could use his good arm to grab the seat, and asist his step upwards. He also extended the choke control so that he could reach it right handed while reaching forward with his left foot to push the starter. Somehow, he managed to operate the Powr-trol lever on the left side with his artifical arm, by sliding the lever through the opening in his hook. This model Powr-Trol was not particularly easy to convert to right handed operation. He managed to run the other machines around the farm pretty much as-is, including a Deere self-propelled combine. Other machines were primarily MF and Farmall. Also drove trucks and cars, even manual transmissions. State probably required a steering knob, but I don't remember that he used them.
