The reliability is great on the hydros if treated right. How it was used before and how many hours are on the transmission will tell how it will treat you. Baling is a prefect chore for one as they were not great for heavy drawbar work as it would cause the transmission to get hot.
I have a 656 hydro i love running on the baler cause its easy to stop and backup or change speeds. I have since upgraded to AC and powershift so the hydro sits more.
I have browsed some of the 186s before and you will have to be ready to pay dearly if you want a nice one. A 3488 will cost even more.
