Using your hand push the pedal down easily until you feel the resistance of it trying to release the pressure plate, you should have about a three quarter to an inch between the pedal and the platform rest. If you have more then this that will add to non release difficulties. Adjust by pulling linkage pin and turning yoke clevis. Just FYI, I believe normal convention is to refer to clutch operation as disengaging or releasing when you push the pedal.
