Get someone to clear it with a dozer or something first, or burn it if it is practical with fire breaks and everything. Some forrestry services will assist in this for a fee. If the property is hilly, you will need a rops(roll over bar) especially if you are unfamiliar with the operation of a tractor. Both of the tractors you mentioned are good tractors. I'm not familiar with a IH 424, but have a lot of experience on a IH 444, and it is an excellent tractor. But again, I would strongly recommend getting one fitted with a rops.
