Dan Good advice from every one, especially on the safty aspects. I understand the "its new, mine and I want to do it my self". Many of the jobs I undertake on the farm could be "farmed out" easier and likely cheaper in the long run. Having said that there is little as satisfing as looking at a mow of fresh hay you made yourself. Take your time with your tractor purchase. Get a unit with power steering, 3 point hitch, live power take-off and 35-55 hp. Look at what your neighbours have, see which dealerships are the closest. Most towing companys have roll-decks capable of transporting a tractor the size you are interested in, so don't disreguard private sale. When you go to look at a tractor take a friend, even if they know little about farm equipement, they may be the voice of reason. Once you get a tractor get an operators and service manual for that unit. If it doesn't have a roll bar make that your first purchase. Be safe! Best of luck with your new place, that is a beautiful area. Good luck with your tractor hunt, let us know how you made out. Roy
