Here in Kansas we are tax free federally for farm fuel. We pay state taxes on farm fuel but can fill out papers to get fuel taxes back from state at end of year. Farm use items are suppose to be sales tax exsempt but ussually anything in question they sneak in the sales tax on it. Doesn't really matter becuase anything that is considered a farm exspense can be taken off your income tax at the end of the year. If you have an income at the end of the year then you have to pay income taxes on it to both state and federal. If you don't show an income you can depreciate out some of your expenses over a period of time. Expeneses can sometimes help you out sales tax or not.
