Bill, I have a 8' blower that works great in the right type of snow but heavy wet stuff will not go thur it. I have the hydraulic chute and cab so it would be a pain without it. You don't need it if you have no cab. What you will need is a good set of waterproof coveralls because your going to get covered with snow no matter what. The wind will blow everywhere your at. Also you will need chains to do a good job. The weight seems about right for a good unit and the extra weight will give you traction. Backing up all the time seems bad but I don't have any problems. When I'm blow- ing snow cars stop and watch because many have never seen these big blowers and there are none in my area. Good luck and have fun. Unimog
