Have hard driven 87 Grand National with external modifications for even more power. It has 264,000 miles on the all origional shortblock. The cross hatch pattern from the factory pattern is still visible in the bores.
Used Mobil 1 synthetic or Amsoil synthetic.
Oil gets changed once a year & filters every 5000 miles. No need to change oil unless it's dirty.
An oil change every 3000 miles is a hold over of habits from the old days or for vehicles/machines that see putter around usage only.
