When I was active Army, we were getting ready for night shift. After guard mount, one of the senior NCOs pulled a can out of his pocket and took a dip. Right away one of the corporals asked if he could get a pinch. Sarge handed over the can. Corporal took a pinch, packed it in his gum, and got a look of horror like he'd seen the devil, then began clawing at his lip gasping. Sarge had a Copenhagen can full of coffee grounds. Needed the caffeine to keep awake. Igrew up with a mother that smoked. I've had a persistent cough since junior high. Diagnosed with COPD 35 years ago. 25 is too young for emphysema.
