You really need to give more information. I would say engine life = f(Manufacturer, Model, Age, Application, Maintenance, Operator). Ha, Ha, Ha, there is the mathematical equation for you, just add coefficients and units. Pretty good before morning coffee. :-)
At that HP I am guessing that is a Yanmar or Kubota or some other Asia Engine. Many of those engines have very good reputations such as Yanmar and Kubota. After that it is Age, Maintenance, and Operator. So I suggest you talk to the owner/operator as much as you can. You have already made some good observations.
