Detroit diesel question

Sorry this is off topic a bit, is anyone familiar with the Detroit 8.2 litre v-8 diesel? no turbo and 1985 or'86 model I think, are these junk? what do I look for when buying a rig with this engine? is it expensive to work on and does it need a lot of work usually? I have heard that they leak but this one didn't seem to,also what would a good running used one with 180,000 miles sell for. thanks for any information you might give. Chris
