SV the big difference is we get some rain during the growing season, that the western states don't get. We are not as dependent on winter snow as you guys are in the west. The mid west has about an average of 30 inches of precipitation per year where you get about 10. I am approximating here on the moisture an know I am not exactly right for the areas as you might get a bit more or less depending on the area of Id or the area of the mid west. Here in central MI the 30 inches is pretty correct.
