Right off the top of my head, I'd think you'd wanna drive it off the PTO, just so you have the option of having it in or out of gear. The belt pulley runs any time the clutch is engaged. Only problem with the PTO idea is getting enough blade speed, but that'd just be a question of picking your pulley sizes correctly.

You got a power lift? If a fella sat and stared at it long enough (mebbe with a couple of cold barley pops to get the ol' thinker goin') I bet ya could rig up a linkage to raise and lower it too.

Ya know, I think I know where I can put my hands on a 44" Woods belly mower...
