I have a 2N that I paid 1800 for. Seeing that any decent lawn tractor cost way more, it, to me is a bargain. I pull a 6 foot finish mower, and it pulls it nice. I run a box blade, snow blade, rear scoop, brush hog, post hole digger, and a utility trailer. It can't be beat unless you need a loader. they are lousy loader tractors.

Parts are cheap, and those old flat heads are really rugged. Live hydraulics and PTO would be nice, but I haven't found any situation that required them.

As for going with other brands, make sure you can get replacement parts. I also have an AC CA that I love, but parts, when available cost twice as much, and often I have had to resort to a boneyard. In the long run, i think you will find the Fords high initial price offset by the low cost of replacement parts.

Two other things....if you go for a bigger tractor, think about where you will store it, and how much it weighs. I park my N in the front of my garage in the winter sideways. Always ready for snow! And it's light weight makes the regular Ag tires fine for finish mowing.

Also, if you buy a similar sized old tractor with a three point conversion, make sure it can lift heavy things like a finish mower or brush hog. these get heavy!

Good Luck
Steve
