I've never been around those radials except for a quick tour of some small planes at a local airstrip. A friend who had been in the Air Force gave me a little insight into them. At the time I was doing some mechanic work on VW air-cooled engines, so the air-cooled radials really intrigued me. I also went through the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola a couple years ago. They have a great display there, but I only had a short time to try to see it all. Most "wimmen" don't seem to understand the importance of this stuff, and we had several wimmen with us, so we had to hurry through. The Navy's Blue Angels perform there every year, but I haven't got to see them yet. I have a friend who lives a few miles west of there, so I hope to get to see the airshow someday.

P.S. Almost forgot. I bought my first tractor about 16 or 18 years ago from another small airstrip not to far from where I lived. While I was there picking it up, I talked with a guy who did some aircraft repair and rebuilding. He offered to take me up in one of the small planes there sometime, but I noticed that he was drinking while working on a small plane's engine, and for some reason or other, I never got around to going back for the free ride. Maybe I'm just a little to chicken. By the way, I'm sure you've probably heard the saying, "there are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots".
