On the right side there is a little cover on the front of the bell housing. Loosen it and rotate it to expose the flywheel. rotate the engine to fire number one spark plug. Then get he TDC mark lined up with the pointer. Loosen the distributor hold down and rotate the distributor back and forth watching the points open and close. Lock the distributor down when the points are just ready to open. I have the key on to see the spark when they open and back up to close. That will give you the best time. It is very close now but should help it start better. When you get the tank clean you might get a can of seafoam in it as well. When I would get another tractor that had been setting I put a can of seafoam in the tank with 5 gallon or less of gas and another one in the crankcase. You will love that tractor.
