Your arguments about currency and lack of gold to back it are myth. Yes, we only printed currency to the extent we had gold reserves, but the wealth of America was contained in the merchandise we made, the crops we raised, the minerals we mined, not the bulk of gold stored in Ft Knox. The problem was that Gold was not a guarantee against inflation, and Roosevelt's decision to confiscate gold in private hands helped end the gold standard.
