Those LITTLE inclines can plum suck the horse power out of ya and with all that rolling resistance they are lacking about four hundred ponys or more . Now personally never pulled one of them big trailers but one of my friends that i taught how to drive big trucks does and has told me that there have been times he had three on the ft pulling and three on the back pushing , his truck is set up with two speed rear ends a 18 speed and a three speed behind the 18 and yep 600 plus twisting it all . Biggest i have personally moved was just shy of 3000000. with out help with over 750 ponys under the hood . you did not want to miss any shifts and you sure as all get out want to be smooth on the shift. On the hills the drag would make you have to skip shift , and once you were down in 2nd. you started to worry as your next gear would be LOW as there was no way you could hit 1st. Then there was the traction factor will you have enough weight on the drives or will you spin out even on dry pavement and IF you are loaded to max permit weight this may not be enough . we use to pull loads of coal out of the W B coal and bring loads up that hill in the 125000-130000 lb range and drive axle loading in the 50000 lb range and spin out in second if you got out of the wheel tracks and hit gravel or the hill was a little wet . That was scary as you could not hold the load on the hill . Fast thinking and good backing skills and a jake brake might save you .
