I've been buying and selling different things for over 50 years what you describe is just part of the normal deal.Some of my best bargain buys came from ads that were poorly written or a poor description.One that comes to mind was an ad that read "Old John Deere lawnmower,don't run,$100" ad was posted in the Winter time.Went to look turned out to be a really super nice JD 318 with mower deck,3pt and a couple more Brinly attachments.Battery was dead. Gotta roll with the flow.
