Hi Fritz, I had the same problem. hot air holds water. cool air does not hold much. the less water at your regulater and filter, the less water will be at the tool. I ran 20 feet of copper 1/2 from my compressor. to my reg and filter. i sweated on the fittings. the copper does a great job in cooling the air. I got about 90% less water in my filter than when i connected it directly to the tank. From the tank to the copper i put in 3 feet of flex hose (air hose) with quick couplers , so i could disconnect it and move the compressor around. i left the reg that came with the unit on, and bought a second one for the wall.. hope this helps let me know. I now own a IR 17cms@175 psi, but that is another story, but it was the best1,000 bucks i ever spent. good luck Paul
