Thanks Ron, that was pretty interesting. I would guess a lot of mechanics have been humbled by a non-functioning knotter. Last winter my friends New Holland wouldn't tie. Although I have some experience, I figured it was beyond me but we were able to get the service manager at the local New Holland dealer to look at it if the baler was brought to my heated shed, much closer to the dealership.
We worked on it several evenings once we installed the new parts the service manager recommended. The service manager took my friends high school age son under his wing and they did most of the work. Yep, he got it tying almost non-stop. My friend is pretty happy. I was amazed the service manager nailed it so well. It is amazing how frustrating it can be and you would swear it couldn't work, but once everything is dialed in, it works pretty reliably.
