I had a motorcycle gas tank welded, once. The guy did it all the time. HOW he did it follows: Drain and dry the tank thoroughly. Get DRY ICE (frozen carbon dioxide) NOT ice (frozen water) Put a bunch of DRY ICE in the tank with a small amount of water. You will see a fog forming and comming out of the tank. Prop the tank up so the filler spout is straight up in the air. When the fog starts to come out over the top and "spills" down the sides, it means the oxygen has all been displaced. (no combustion without oxgen) Or else use a sawsall. good luck sod
