On the prairies of Minnesota, when we blade snow or stack it with a loader, it makes ridges. When the wind blows, that fills in a little higher than the ridges. So, push it off to the side, higher. And it fills in again, higher.... It's not uncommon to see 8' piles of snow along both sides of a driveway here, while the feilds a 100 feet away just has 6-12" of snow. A blower either blows the snow in the direction I aim, or it blows it up into the air & the wind takes it away. Either way, the snow is away from the driveway, and the ridges don't get more than 2 feet or so, much better than the 8' people with loaders get. For me, if the wind takes the snow, terrific! I don't care where it goes, just away from the driveway. Some of my best snow removal is to wait a day after a SE wind that piles 3 feet of snow on the driveway. We usually get a strong NW wind the following day, & it scours the driveway down to the frozen ice again - as long as I don't have those 8' high banks on each side! :) Obviously, conditions are different for us, and I certainly don't mean to put down your comments. Just different points of view on how things work for local conditions. :) --->Paul

The gentleman no longer farmed because the entire area was developed with housing and light industry. I had stopped several times and knocked on the door but no one would answer. My curiosity was up and I wanted to contact the owner. I wanted to see what he planned to do with the combine.
