: What is the best way to hook up an in-line air/water : filter to keep water out of air tools, especially : paint spray guns. I have a 4.5hp Campbell/Hausfield : roll around compressor and installed a filter sometime : ago directly at the tank but still get water when using : it for lengthy periods like sandblasting. I looked : at smaller filters for eliminating water but can or : should you screw it right into the tool you are using? : I drain the water condensation from the tank at least : once a week, more often if I'm using it regularly. : Any advice? If it were a stationary tank,I would run a steel pipe from the compressor across one of your shop walls, having it rise about a foot from start to finish. Put your water trap on the lower end and your filter/regulator on the upper end of the pipe. The best way to remove water from compressed air is to run the air through a chiller to condense the moisture .The is the best way but may be too exspensive.
