Honestly, the prices sound in line for what is going on at present. A good 71XX Magnum is around 30,000 dollars and if the power shift on the tractor you saw needs work that could eat 15-20 thousand dollars or more that is what the new owner will have invested given the auction sale price. Guys are being far more conservative on tractors with commodity prices down. Guys that are looking for 86 series tractors are not big spenders so forget bidding close to what new retail was. Same with JD 50 series large frame row crops i.e. 4850. The New Holland discbine might have brought more if it was 1000 RPM drive. In a lot of areas moldboard plows bring scrap metal price. All in all it's a different world on equipment prices versus a few years ago.
