It rained and snowed all day here. Not fit to be outside. The oldest of my younger grand daughters, LOL, wanted me to watch/help her trim and reshoe all four of there horses. Told her yesterday this weekend would be a good time for it. The forge is in the end of the horse barn. So when you get the forge going that end of the barn is nice and warm. So right after lunch the three Musketeers came over ( Three Grand daughters that are sisters) also Horse crazed women in training. LOL

She has not had the chance to show me what she has been learning while working with the farrier. So they get their horses out and the older one removes all their shoes. Then starts to trim the horses feet. While she was doing that I made two sets of heavier shoes for the younger two horses as they have grown. They can use heavier shoes now. My Grand daughter has the natural eye to look at the hoof and tell what to do. She did GREAT. One of them had a bad spot she was able to work out so the new shoe will fully cover it. She did well at nailing the fitted shoes on too. She just is not big/strong enough to really work the shoes on an anvil very long. After the first horse I did the fitting for her. Great for a just barely 17 year old young lady. She tops the scale at just over 100 lbs. Even a pleasure horse will test your strength hold up their leg/foot.

She was ten foot tall going home after getting it DONE!!!!!! She going to be one heck of a woman in a few more years. Scary smart and not afraid of hard work. She is a senior this year and only has three high school classes. The rest are up at the college. She is tied with another girl for top grades just under a straight four point. Her 14 year old sister (one of the other horse nuts LOL) is a freshman and she has a straight four point. The youngest if the three is 12. She does great in school too. She loves mechanical stuff. She was right at my elbow while I was making the shoes. She beat on some of them. My son and her are rebuilding an old Jeep for her to drive around the farm.

So this OLD fart Grandpa, just had to brag up these girls. I keep teasing the younger two Grand sons (10-11) that they have some tough roads to follow. They tell me it is "just girls" so being "boys" they can easily do it. LOL smart butts.
