FYI The 24 volt components IE the Starter and Generator are two wire insulated/isolated off case/frame ground and are certainly NOT Positive ground as your post said, you're not the only person who mistakenly proclaimed the 24 volt system was Positive ground so don't feel bad lol Do as Bob noted to Polarize the Generator. Then when running at fast RPM and the genny is full fielded like Bob told you essentially taking the VR out of the equation if she don't charge its a Genny or wiring problem NOT the VR...��..
