After a little research, I find out the Heider Tractors were built at what later became the J.I. Case plant when Case bought the Rock Island Plow company in 1937. Looks like the last remaining Heider building was supposed to be torn down this year, 2018.
Was a BAD year for the Quad-Cities, the building that a company I worked for moved into about 1988 or '89 was torn down to make room for the ramps and abutments for the new I-74 Mississippi River bridge. Bet I've been over the old bridges a Million times! When you work for a company with two facilities, one in Moline, other in Bettendorf, you have to spend a LOT of time on the bridges during Construction Season, AKA SUMMER.
