When I was about 5-6, we had a HUGE! pile of dead elm trees that had gotten the Dutch Elm disease. Grandpa had paid to have them pushed out, they just made a huge, messy pile full of dirt, and it didn't burn well. Dad spent years fiddling around cutting wood, pulling limbs out with our MI or 1010. He used to start a little campfire in the morning so my sister and I would stick around with him while he worked, we picked up sticks and kept the fire going.
A machinist from the company Dad worked for had gotten an old JD 40 crawler with blade, he made many new and improved parts for it himself. He brought that thing over and it was amazing what he could do- the little tractor was so strong, and he had some experience with engineering tree and stump removal. He had the pile cleaned up and the ground reclaimed in what seemed like no time. Would not take any money from Grandpa for the job, was just happy to get that crawler out and work it hard.

If impossible to place tractor under cover, be sure to cover air stack and exhaust pipe. Drain radiator and engine block. To avoid gum content collections, drain both fuel tanks and carburetor. Leave radiator and fuel caps slightly loose to protect gaskets. Block tractor up to remove weight from tires and to keep tires from contact with moist floor.
