We used to see a lot of sheet stock like that with 4x4's underneath and a chain(s) or strap(s) over a 2x4 or 2x6 across the top. Always seemed to work good as long as everything was lined up to support each other. 1/2 sheet metal with just a chain over that isn't near as wide as the trailer? Not my idea of proper securement, even if it is legal. I don't k now if anything major has changed in the past 10 years, but I always like the idea of adding an extra in anything looked "iffy". Better safe than sorry, eh?
