The Mom and Pop operations in most industries have died, and as pointed out they are dying in the dairy industry. Overall that is a good thing as it will lead to more food for less cost overall and that is the bottom, and most important, line. We are blessed with free markets when we can get the government out of the way. I wish government would simply go away and let the free market run more things.
Yes it is sad that so many folks have to learn to make their way in the world doing something they love less than milking cows, but there was a time when the wood wheel makers felt the same way, and the world continued to rotate nicely.
