I prefer the ring over the rack. Unless you got a horse that's bad about pulling hay out of the feeder and not eating it. Racks are not good for low quality bales, or bales that contain alot of trashy weeds. Any bale like that, livestock needs the ability to nose around in it. They do not have the ability to do that in a rack. No matter how good of hay you feed, you gonna end up with some trashy hay somewhere along the line. When one of these bales hit the rack, livestock will eat down so far and quit eating. Might be some good hay left in feeder. They just can't get to it because of whats not good and can't nose around in it.
