I have always voted and made an effort to know as much about the candidates as possible. I do not vote on any position that I do not know anything about the candidates. For example; we elect judges here, but I have no way to know if a judge is good or bad, so I just leave that one blank. Voting for county coroner seems antiquated to me.
I had a fellow working for me who asked for time off to go vote.... time Granted! Days later in general conversation I learned that he knew nothing about our system of government or its operation. He did not know the name of the governor, US senator, congressman....or any local elected officials. How could he vote intellegently? I take voting seriously. And I just do not believe our founding fathers wanted people to vote without knowing anything about the people or issues on the ballot.
So I would encourage anyone that cares enough to have and informed opinion to VOTE!.....but people that know nothing about the candidates or issues, I would just as soon they skipped it.
